Aimee Schimizzi, MD

Hand and Upper Extremity, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Aimee Schimizzi is a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity surgeon. She practices general orthopaedics and specializes in hand, wrist, and upper extremity problems. Dr. Schimizzi has extensive knowledge about both conservative and surgical therapies for upper extremity injuries and conditions. She offers non-surgical, minimally invasive, and surgical treatments for upper extremity trauma, instability, arthritic conditions, and elbow disorders. Her training was concentrated on advanced techniques in upper extremity surgery such as arthroscopy, reconstructive procedures, and innovative therapies for common hand problems.

Education

Dr. Schimizzi was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned her Medical Degree from the same university in 2001. After completing her Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of California in San Diego, she pursued an additional year of Fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the C.V. Starr Hand Surgery Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. She has performed research in both the fields of Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery and is a published author in multiple peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. She has presented research at the local, state, and national levels. Dr. Schimizzi is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon.
